My wife is trying to make plans for this summer, and I need to let her know when I am busy.
Does anyone know the dates of the upcoming Kingston Electric Funfly (Please don't respond when it usually takes place; I need to know the precise dates)?
Can anyone forward to me Martin Irvine's email address?
Kingston is always the weekend after Father's day. That places it on June 25-26. It is nice that it doesn't land on the holiday weekend (depending on one's personal perspective - many fliers end up with other family obligations on the long weekend). You get what i'm saying ???
Hope to see you there. And I hope Martin has the same dates as i have in mind.
I'm a little late to the party, but yes - June 25th and 26th will be our 21st Annual Electric Fun Fly.
Martin
I REALLY hope I can make it this year! I intend to! :)
Can anyone recommend a motel ?(a pool would be nice for my daughter.) Look forward to seeing you guys there. ;)
Tom
Some stay here (the closest to the highway and the flying field), but there is no pool, and no close-by restaurants.

There are a few motels about 10 minutes closer to town, with pools and restaurants close by.
Hey Tom,
We've stayed here before and it's very nice, with an indoor pool and even a water slide.

Of course it'll be more expensive than the "Wilton Hilton", but if your family is coming, you may want to upgrade a bit anyway ;D
It'll be great to have you at the Kingston Electric Fun Fly this year!
I made the same enquiry on RC Canada and got 2 votes for the Ambassador. It looks fine and is only 10 km from the field, so I'm going to book there. You guys should too!
What are you bringing Rob? And do you plan to go Michael?
Tom
I'm planning to be there.
I'm not sure, yet, Tom. I'm low on planes these days.
For sure the SE5a, and hopefully a new Mew Gull and maybe even the Sea Fury I got from Andre a couple of years ago. And I'll toss a couple seaplane in the trailer in case we go float flying.
How about you?
I'm not sure either, Rob. A Venom EDF, an H9 Corsair, a TF P-47, the B-17, a Flyzone Beaver and a Cularis motor glider are the choices, but my little car will only hold 2 or 3, depending.
Tom
Almost forgot the trusty Tigermoth. :)
Who is going to Kingston. I have permission to go! (well for one day anyway)
I know Michael and I are going, and it sounds like Tom is too. I also know that Colin plans to go. At least he keeps talking about the need for a test flight before Kingston ;D
Simon had a great time last year and assured us he'd try to attend again this year :)
And Greg H is a regular there too...
Oh, and I'm sure we'll see Andre Wedseltoft (Andre...the Giant) there as well, as he's a regular.
Who else???? It's always a fun "guys and planes" weekend away.
I've reduced my somewhat grandiose (and expensive) plan of staying 2 nights so we'll be driving up Sat. morning, staying at the Ambassador. Hoping for good weather, and it'll be great to see you guys.

Yeah I'll be there. (regardless of the test flight happening or not. ;))
Colin
I'm am looking forward to a great weekend. My Dad will be there too!
I have it on good authority that the Guelph Contingent will be there.
Meant to ask, is there float flying arranged later in the day?
Hey Alan, I'm glad to hear you'll be there! The more the merrier!
I haven't heard about any float fly plans specifically, but I would assume from the past, that the option will be there if enough people are interested. That's how Martin usually leaves it. Assuming Wilf is home, I'm sure we'll have the option of going to his place for a couple of hours of flying from water. We usually aim to leave the Kingston flying field around 4:00 to head to Wilf's.
Let's see... I'll have three float planes, I know Michael plan's to bring his 8' Albatros (probably at least two float planes with him), Colin will have two water bombers, If Rob D can make it, he may have a couple float planes, I know Martin is usually good for a float plane or two, and if you bring something, we'll have a good showing.
I'm taking the Seawind.
Having not been to Kingston before I am unsure where the field is. Can someone offer directions? Also where is everyone staying? The weather looks very good at this point, sunny with low wind. Looking forward to it. There is also an air show on Sunday, at the Trenton Forces base that I may take in on the way back.
From the 401... the field is here:

Michael and I will be staying here:

I think it's called the Wilton Motel. There MAY still be a vacancy, but I wouldn't count on it.
I'm going early Friday hand will have lunch with my parents. Michael and I will likely meet at the motel around 2:00 or 3:00. From there I like to go to the local hobby shop, then after a bite to eat, if the weather looks nice we'll go to the field for some evening flying. There are usually club members there getting some flying in before the electric guys take over for the weekend, and people will be setting up their campers for the weekend.
I hope a bunch of you guys can make it. It's a GREAT field and it's nice to hang out with people we know as well as some we only see once a year.
On Saturday evening, we may go float flying. Whether we do or not, we almost always go for dinner in town with the bunch of us out of towers and usually Martin and Maggie.
BTW, Martin always puts on a GREAT event with their famous english muffin and egg breakfast at the field both days, and a great BBQ lunch both days. And Martin always has lots of awards to acknowledge the effort of the pilots and especially the builders.
Thanks Rob. Bringing the beaver and Tidewater, as well as a warbird or two and my Cub. I think that is all that will fit in the car.
See you Saturday.
What about the M5? Martin will love that plane!
Hi guys. I'm in. I'm booked at the Wilton motel for Friday night and Saturday night. I'll be heading out noonish Friday. Looking forward to it!
Awesome!!!! ;D
Hi guys,
Saturday is sold out but Friday night was still available at the Wilton, so I booked that and will just come back to Toronto Saturday after flying. Rob, the problem with bringing the Macchi is that it does not come apart, and the seats in the Genesis do not fold down. It will take up the entire trunk with all those wings and floats and stuff, and I can get 3 normal planes in the trunk instead, with 2 or 3 more in the main cabin. I want to leave Kingston no later than about 5:30 so I get home before it gets dark. What time do you usually go float flying?
Hey guys, for reference, here's the directions to the float flying site... if it happens.

And while I'm mapping stuff... Here are the directions to the local hobby shop (where I expect to be around 3:00 on Friday), and the Saturday dinner restaurants options are in the same area too.

I can unexpectedly take Friday off, so I will be down early too. I have decided on the Tidewater, The EF Beaver on floats, a sailplane, a P51, a Spitfire and a Hurricane. It will take a bit of Macgyvering, but I think I can get everything in. God I hope I remember my batteries!
Looking forward to everyone coming. At this point, Keith Shaw is planning to come, depending on the results of an ophthalmology appointment tomorrow morning. His van is packed.....
Weather looks good, just waiting on the wind direction. We may have to fly from the North/South runway, (the CD can do that). And Wilf is OK for float flying at his place.
Last fall, long time member Ron Watts died. He was the person who got me involved in electrics. (I missed having to re-wind windshield wiper motors but did get to regard 800ARs and 1200SC batteries as state of the art!) Ron had a lot of stuff, but while we auctioned much of it off, I saved 5 (FIVE!) kits for an entrant draw.
See you this weekend,
Martin
Keith is coming.

Just got back and had a great time!. Big thank you to Martin and the crew at Kingston for a good time this weekend! (just a few shot to see what you missed)
Greg
The pilot in that last model is amazingly realistic!!!
Love the Albatross, too.
Looks like you all had a blast. Sorry to have missed it.
that was a real plane ... ultralight did a touch and go for us. The Kingston club as radio so they can talk with each other
Greg
I figured....
Very nice!
Check out the photo gallery (http://temac.ca/?p=10840) to see the complete set of great photos taken by Greg Hazelton at the Kingston Fun Fly, including the one of Colin loading his 110% scale air mattress into his 100% scale tent (http://temac.ca/?attachment_id=10818). ;D
Way to go Greg!
Andy
Thanks for the photos -looks like a lot of fun.
Ken
looked like a really cool event to attend! love the pre war racers, mew gull, gee bee and what ever that diamond shaped wing racer was... very very cool!
it's always a good time ;)... BTW the diamond shaped plane is a Crosby CR-4:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crosby_CR-4
I believe Keith called it the "F-104 of piston powered planes"
Greg
Here is the video of Michael flying his Tiger Moth at Kingston last weekend. It was truly one of the best days of flying I have ever experienced.

The video link is marked as private; It won't play unless you specifically grant us access.
ok, set it as public. Should be good now.
Nice! Thanks, Rob. :)
Great photos Greg. Great weekend too. Apart from taking my phone for a swim, came back with everything in one tact. Great to see the TEMACs.
