Title: Icon A5 cockpit view
Post by: Oscar on May 19, 2016, 12:05:54 AM
The Icon is repaired from last crash.  I decided to add the FPV gear to the canopy.  It's the Mobius ActionCam FPV Docking Station with Mini Video Transmitter 5.8GHz 32ch 200mW from HobbyKing. Since I am not sure how well it flies with the FPV, I was flying LOS while Greg and others looking thru the FPV goggles.

The FPV gear is too heavy for the Icon.  I have to fly full throttle throughout the flight.  A 3/4 throttle immediately lost the lift.  Also, it's quite nose heavy.  I have to add lots of up elevator.

BTW, check out our new marking on the runway.  Thank you Graham!! Thank you TEMAC!!  FPV landing will be more scale and fun.  Graham - can we have side landing lights on the runway too?  ;D

WARNING: You need Gravol to watch it's take off and landing.  :P

Great flying Oscar, even with all that extra gear!
The runway centre line shows up nicely and looks pretty cool.  Stay tuned...I have a few more ideas.

Runway lights would also be neat.  I will add that to the project list after we get hydro service.  ;D
Thanks for sharing your video.

Solar power, Graham!!

Nice flight, Oscar. It looks to me like the Mobius action camera doesn't handle changing lighting condition very well. I'd be extremely nervous if I have to fly FPV with that setup...

Indeed.  Good for passenger FPV, but will be terrible flying in person with that setup.
