Title: Sportster maiden crash and fire
Post by: Candu on June 15, 2016, 05:22:13 PM
Loss of power and control on take off. High probability of a faulty ESC since it failed to start motor on initial power up but tested ok after recycle the power.

This sounds like a dumb question, but just about every pilot has had it happen (I've done it)-  Were the ailerons working in the proper direction?

If the aileron is reversed, that will do it for sure. With the exception of the ESC, the other electronics seem to have survived the crash.  I'll try to power it up later on to confirm.

Oh, the white smoke of surrender.

We now also know why it is called a "fire-wall". 8)

Thanks for the video after the retrieval of the black boxes.  We have all done it (reversed ailerons).  A rite of passage.
