Title: Flying Monday may 20 Victoria Day 10am-12:30 pm
Post by: Frank v B on May 19, 2019, 06:15:48 PM
I will be at the field tomorrow (Monday) morning 10 am - 12:30 pm if anyone needs to maiden a plane or needs some help.
Need to re-maiden the little 27" span P-51 with the new rudder servo, need to fly my large P-51 (.46 size) with the fixed wing mount (screw plate cracked on Saturday) and maiden the V-900 bullet.

I will be there no matter what because I have a business appointment in Richmond Hill at 9 am.

Frank

ps: I will be at Tim's Woodbine at 9:30 to top up on caffeine.

Well..... 5 flights with 4 airplanes belonging to 3 members ended up with all 4 airplanes needing repairs.  Very gusty, very windy from the west.  The worst possible combination.

Bruce's Thunderbolt lost a landing gear leg after a bouncy landing (photo 92)
Yakob's Mini Apprentice suffered a broken tail
My large P-51 won the furrow ploughing contest.  It landed short but with level wings so both the nose air scoop and the hatch air scoop filled up with dirt. (Photo 84).  Note on the photo how the landing gear legs now want to retract backwards. ;) (photo 85)
My mini P 51 (27" span) was much easier to take off with the rudder than last Saturday (no rudder) but it nosed in on landing and broke a prop.

Dr. John pronounced every mishap was pile-it error!

Still beats working on a Monday. ;D
