I bought this plane last fall. I have always loved Chipmunks and when this came up I jumped at it instead of building my own. It was in pretty rough shape and was an older build that I converted to electric. After the morning crew lunch the sun came out so I thought I would go and taxi test it. It uses 5 s and I have to take the wing off to get the battery in, which is a pain but I could not figure another way to do it. My 5s's were only about 50 %. It has a castoring tail wheel which I thought might be a problem for ground handling. I did a slow taxi and was pleased that the rudder was enough to keep it quite manageable. I did another little faster taxi into a fairly strong wind from the south and before I knew it I was airborne. So, I gave it more throttle and it climbed out. Flies like a dream. Only did two circuits but it flew well, although it does need rudder to turn. Slowed down nicely and settled in like an Apprentice! Did another 2 circuits with another 1/2 charged battery. Now I can't wait to try it with a full charge and see what it can do.
Very nice! I can't wait to build mine! ;D
2 more flights today, flies very well.
It's a beautiful plane Rob. Congrats.
