Title: 1951 Farnborough Air Show...
Post by: RogMason on April 30, 2020, 12:53:08 PM
Here's a short glimpse at jet aircraft designs, developing after WWII, as the world moved forward toward jet aircraft travel.

There are some uniquely ugly designs but I remind myself, this was an all new and unknown frontier.  Interesting in particular are a couple of delta wing test aircraft from AVRO. We all know what was to come from that company in the way of delta wing jets - both in the UK and in Canada?

Early in the film Jan Zurakowski, the test pilot of the yet to be produced Canadian, Avro Arrow, demonstrates the 'Cartwheel' maneuver, in a specially modified Gloucester Meteor.  Some interesting stuff.

Almost as ugly as some of the early designs, is the music that traditionally graced British documentaries of the period. :-)

That's quite the show. Thanks
It's crazy to think that some of them still fly. It had to be the music
