Title: Monocote gun
Post by: octagon on May 11, 2020, 04:49:24 PM
So appearently Monocote guns don't like to be dropped when they are running. They show their displeasure by stopping working. Took it apart but I don't know anything about what I am looking at. It will blow on cold air but although the element gets hot the fan does not work. Anybody know how to fix it or anybody have one they want to sell?
Thanks

Rob,

I will check if I have a spare one.

The reason the hobby shops cannot get them any more is that the CSA certificate for the guns and the irons was held by Hobbico for import into Canada.  Without CSA approval they cannot be sold in Canada.  When Hobbico/Great Planes folded, so did the import certificate. The same goes for all Estes rockets and rocket motors*.

Thanks Frank. Ya you can't get any of that stuff any more. I took it right down to see if I could see  what was wrong, and found a solder joint that had broken. Soldered it and it is fixed now, but thanks for looking. I will buy one if you have an extra you don't need though.
