Title: Smoking at the field and using generators at the field
Post by: davidk on October 03, 2022, 01:56:59 AM
Hi Folks,

I've had a few people approach me about cigarette butts found throughout the field and a few people smoking in the pits and those using generators to charge.

May I remind everyone that smoking is only permitted behind the cars, in the parking lot, at the west side of the parking lot.
If the wind is from the west there's not much we can do to alleviate the smoke.  But if the wind is north, south, or east, then smoke is blowing in other's faces... and if you're not a smoker... it's not very nice.

If you're charging batteries using a portable generator then that generator must be set up at the extreme north or south end of the field depending on the direction of the wind.  At the south end that's past the washroom.  At the north end it's that last bit of space before the farm field.  If the wind is blowing from the south then set up at the north end of the field.  If the wind is blowing from the north then set up at the south end of the field.  This lets the wind take the noise away from the pits.  This is to minimize the noise the generator makes... that constant drone is a bit annoying and it forces some people to leave before they are finished flying.

Please be courteous to others when smoking and charging.  The noise, smoke and smell isn't to everyone's taste.

Thank you,

David
