Title: Elder finished
Post by: octagon on October 13, 2022, 06:34:09 PM
Hi Guys,
After seeing Glenns, Michaels and Simon's Elder 40s flying I decided I wanted one. Topflite is out of business so no kits availble. Glenn lent me his plans and I built one from scratch. I switched to a magentic building system and I think this is the squarest plane I have ever built.

This will surely fly like a dream.
Congratulations.

Looks beautiful Rob - Congrats!
Looking forward to seeing it fly
I checked out the building system you mention - very interesting
I presume you purchased a piece sheet metal locally?

This magnet system makes a use for them old metal top desks that no one wants any more
Yah them heavy oversized desks no one wants to move.
But the freezer works great for the magnet system.

Hi Mark, yes I was able to get it at Lowes. But I am pretty sure the scrap metal place on Woodbine just south of Stouffville road would have something. I think what I purchased was about $70. I only wish I had started using magnets years ago, so much easier, at least for me.

Nice!

I've got one under construction as well, I won the kit at the Zone E AZM some odd years ago.
