Title: Model destroyer- ready to maiden 35.5" long
Post by: Frank v B on August 09, 2024, 09:22:47 PM
Another model liberated from the Cadez Armada.  This is the USS Kearsage.

The re-build:
- stripped the motor (speed 280 direct drive) and replaced it with a geared 280 from GWS.  The prop on this boat is a racing prop.  Wrong type for a direct drive (too big, will smoke the motor)-
- added a 10 amp ESC (brushed).  There will not be a reverse.
- cut the deck in half.  Glued in the front have to make it waterproof-ish. The rear half of the deck is removable.
- once everything is ready to run, I will bring it to TooGood Pond.  Will add all the extra details over the winter... after the float test (railings are broken, lights broken or crooked, etc.)

I wonder who's going to be the first in the club to try and build an aircraft carrier.
