Once upon a time building models that would lift lead weights was very popular.
Check this out and tell us of your experiences. My Dad and I used to fly them in
The Phoenix Park in Dublin and hope the model would come down and not fly
away. They used to let cows graze the grass to save having to cut the grass.
One time our model landed in the only pattie for yards around, it took forever
to get rid of the barnyard smell.

Never flew it myself, but knew of it from reading the model magazines coverage of the US nats.

Never tried it.  Free flight seems like you have no control over your crash.   So I went with RC crashing.  Same outcome but just a higher class of destruction.   
Always heard about it, read about it and never knew PAA stood for Pan American Airlines, the sponsor of the event.  Learned that from checking out Pat's suggested website design (PAAgeboy).
