I'm not sure of the cost of a Spitfire rating but in Sept 2019,  'my' Spitfire (don't I wish?) had just returned from a sales jaunt to Holland, where a wealthy Dutchman, flew the 2 seater in the front cockpit with the company pilot in the rear cockpit, to experience flying the type. He then plopped down a cheque for £2.1 m for one of the single seat MkIX's at Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar.

I think my house would buy the Merlin 66, the undercarriage and the wireless antenna! Not a bad start? 😊
