Old Vintage Covering! Still Safe to fly?

I picked up some projects this weekend and one of the planes appear to have some sort of silk covering with a resin of some sort (dope) that is cracking all over the place.  Is there a risk of the covering incinerating in flight?   

At some time, so d**** A*** stuck monokot on all the small tears...  Looks terrible...

I installed all the servos and it looks like a Power 60 will just bolt to the firewall without any extensions.  So it could be up in the air in a short period of time.   My HK scale pilot looks great in the plane.   I am planning to use a 5S as the plane could be on the heavy side being an old Nitro plane.

It depends on how brittle the covering is.  Even so, planes fly fine with covering that has become brittle from UV exposure.  The tears are probably from handling, not flying.

Ok, well if you are confident, you can be my spotter....    "Hey Cadez, what is the stuff falling off your plane"... haha

This is going to be a fun build / patch...  I need to get some white solartex...
