So what does one do when they destroy their favorite plane? That's right! They buy another one!

My beloved Eflite Leader 480 (which btw is a great little pattern plane) took a giant dirtnap a couple weeks ago for reasons I have yet to figure out, although the glitching ESC on my bench is the main culprit. I looked for an equivalent plane at the same price point and found nothing that interested me. So I bought another one. I'll post my build progress on this forum. For now I'm considering whether or not I go with the stock power setup or go back to the more powerful Power 10 one I used in Leader Mk1. I liked the extra power, but the added weight did seem to effect the plane's performance in terms of aerobatics. And since my primary interest in this plane is Pattern, I don't really need it to go fast. Stay tuned...

Here are some photos. The first is of the Leader MkI post crash and the second is MkII's unboxing...

Thing is if you go with the 480 the mounts are the same so it could be swapped back if you found it lacking.
Yea 400W/lb should about do it.. But wouldn't a nice round 500 be better?

My thoughts exactly.

I'm thinking lighter might be better.

Did a little work on the kit tonight. Ailerons hinged, all servos installed. Piece of cake.

Did a little work this evening after the Canadiens vs. Senators game got out of hand.

-ESC installed (Electrifly Silver Series 45A)
-Nose gear installed
-Motor installed (Turnigy Park 480)
-cowl and spinner done

A nice, easy build.

Nice to know you're a hockey fan, Mike! You a Leafs fan by any chance?

Truly superior pilots are those who use their superior judgment to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills.

So you decided to keep it light?
How is it in wind?

I'm not sure yet Bobby.

I guess I'll find out when I fly it.  If I'm unhappy with it, I'll go to a power 10.
