I'm very pleased to announce another opportunity to fly at the fantastic Tavares Pond, this coming Saturday, August 30th!

David had invited us back for an evening of float flying from his private pond near his home.  Anyone who has been there knows how wonderful it is to fly there and what gracious hosts David, and his Assistant, Hugo are.

We'll start at 3:00pm and fly until dark (8:30ish).  Later in the evening is the perfect time for float flying as the winds die down and the water turns glass smooth.  Bring a chair, your planes, a bite to eat for dinner, something to drink, and maybe a light jacket as it cools in the evening,

The weather, at this point, is looking to be spectacular for Saturday, and the water is always clear, smooth, and welcoming at David's place.

This will be our last float fly, at the Tavares Pond, for the season, so do everything you can to make it out and enjoy the facility and our usual bunch of friendly, fun loving, float flyers.  Even if you haven't flown from floats before, or you want to test fly a new seaplane, come on out.  There's plenty of help available!

I hope you can make it!  Let me know if you have any questions.

Here's a picture I took of the flying site, from my retrieval boat, last time at Tavares Pond.  Looks nice, doesn't it?

Glad to hear it, Mike!

O.K. float flyers.  As you all know, David Tavares has graciously opened his home to our motley crew, three times this year, and once last year, after we finally were able to arrange a date.  We drove on his lawn, flew for hours at a time over his property and private pond, and even got his assistance while searching for downed planes, and he asks nothing in return (and remember, David knew none of us before the day we showed up at his house last year).  I figured it was time to really showed our appreciation to David and his patient wife, Mary, so I've ordered a gift basket to present to David on Saturday.

Since the float flying events are not official TEMAC functions, I haven't approach the club for financial support for the gift.  I'm sure we can cover the cost by passing the hat around at the float fly on Saturday as I know we all really appreciate the wonderful facility we have at the Tavares property.  The total cost of the (very nice) gift basked, plus tax, plus a small token of our appreciate for Hugo, David's assistant and my primary contact for arranging these events, will be about $300.  If everyone was willing to toss a twenty into the hat, we should cover the costs nicely.  Also consider that any good will we can offer at this point may help to get us invited back next year, which I'm sure we would all appreciate and enjoy.

Thanks guys!

Oh, and don't let the sour weather forecast scare you off.  It'll be a wonderful day of float fly at Tavares Pond.  I'll bring two canopies to help with the sun and heat.  You bring your planes, a chair, drinks and snacks for yourself, and lots of enthusiasm!   ;D

See Y'all there!!!

It'll be great to see everyone at the Pond tomorrow.  Yah, Imran... It's been a while!

As predicted by ME, the forecast has gradually improved as we get closer to the weekend, to a point where there is little chance of rain, with light winds!  It'll be AWESOME!   I hope we can get a good group of float flyers out to enjoy this last opportunity to fly at Tavares Pond, for the season.

I'll be there at 3:00pm ready to set-up the sun shelters...

Rob's initiative of getting gifts for David Tavares, his wife Mary, and his assistant Hugo, is an excellent one.  Even though the float flying events at Tavares Pond are not official TEMAC functions, in practice they are, with benefits accruing mainly to TEMAC members.  The Board has therefore decided that TEMAC will cover the cost of these gifts.

Rob (@piker), thanks so much for organizing this (and all the other great float fly events which would not be possible without you).  Send me the bills and I will send you a baggie full of all the loose change Jack gave me from the Annual Fun Fly!   ;D

On behalf of the Board,

Well!  How could we turn down THAT offer!  Thanks Andy and the rest of the TEMAC Board!  I'll bring the receipts to the float fly and/or Race Day on Sunday.  That's so cool!   ;D
