Wait until the end of the video to see just how large this model is.

That's very cool.  And probably the closest to scale airspeed I've seen...

Candu

Cool. That's the type of flying speed I enjoy,

BJROB

Wow that was so cool.
it was still flying even after it hit the pole..... :-\
I think I need that plane...
My Work??? is so secret....
I Don't even Know what I'm Doing!!!

the debate of if this is an airplane or a blimp starts now!
Yea 400W/lb should about do it.. But wouldn't a nice round 500 be better?

deltawing

This balloon Air Bus is cool.
I think this one is a bit more challenge to scratch build. I love the shark one.

For sure a blimp, but it looks cool  :)

pmackenzie

I don't think it is a blimp. :)
It is not lighter than air and flies on the lift from the wings.

They might be reducing the weight by filling the fuse with something lighter than air :)

There was an earlier smaller one of these by Martin Mueller (inventor of the shock flyer and indoor aerobatic flying as we know it) that flew both with air or helium filling it.
Just flew slower when filled with helium.

At the end of the video in the first post it looks like it might be Martin Miller who is flying this new bigger one. Hard to tell because there is only a brief shot of him from the side.

Hmmm...  I agree.  After I made my firm statement above, I thought about the "lighter than air", or at least neutral buoyancy, aspect of a blimp. As you say Pat, even though it's VERY light, it's still flying on the wing.

Airplane!   ;D

It weighed a couple grams but there was a lot of air movement in that room!
