Quite by accident, I stumbled across this 2017 article in the BBC News archives, relating to the discovery of the full set of drawings for every Mark of DH Mosquito ever built.  They were found in an old office building at Broughton, Northern England, now an AirBus factory. I knew of this but had never read about the actual find...  The interesting thing is, these priceless and only existing set, were almost thrown into a dumpster until someone realized what they were.

An irony is, the Mosquito prototype itself was ordered 'burned' but the man responsible or its storage, kept moving it around until interest was lost, thereby saving the only WWII aircraft prototype in existence anywhere in the world. Apparently the order never came in written form - only verbal over the phone, so there was no paper trail to the actual order to burn the aircraft.  So it survives to this day, now housed in the very spot it was built - Salisbury Hall, just two miles from the housing development, that was until 1993, the DeHavilland aerodrome at Hatfield.

The drawings were only discovered in 2017.  The People's Mosquito' project, is using them to build the first Mosquito to fly in British skies in a very long time.
