Anyone interested in learning how to cover an airplane with shrink film is invited to Mark's house 10 am Saturday March 2.  I will be covering the new Polestar.
There will be coffee and Timbits!!

If someone can influence the weather* we can then go flying at TEMAC for 1 pm-ish.

Seminar Confirmation

Saturday, March 2 9:30 am- 11:30 am* at Mark's house.

- covering open surfaces
- covering closed surfaces (sheet balsa) 
- applying trim stripes (wide and narrow)
- repairing holes. Not applicable for those who do not crash.

Thanks to Colin, Jan, Rob (who brought his fully built PoleStar) and Guy, for attending Frank's convering seminar.
Great demonstrations from Frank, and good exchange of ideas.
It's interesting to see that even very experienced buliders like Rob and Guy, get some good pointers.
BTW - This is a big wing!
Here a few of the notes I made that I will incorporate into my covering projects.
-If the wing has aileron "pockets" start with the corners.
-Cover the entire wing (i.e. both top and bottom) BEFORE shrinking. This will prevent warping and unintended "wash-in" or "wash-out".
-When making the small cuts at the wing tip to go cover the rounded edge, start the cuts at the trailing edge so they are downwind.
-When overcovering (one layer of covering over another) make sure the seam is on something solid, like a rib for example.
-To get a minor fold out, or when covering a solid section:
          1 - turn the heat on the iron up a bit
          2 - hover the iron just above the section
          3 - use a cloth to rub the surface until completetd
