I have a TowerPro N20 ESC and am setting it up for a Ducted Fan. I programmed the ESC using the programmer but the motor stops accelerating just past halfway. There is no increase in revs for the last six clicks on the throttle. Is this normal? The programming I used (best guess) is as follows:
ESC Mode: airplane
Brake: off
Timing: 30 degrees for most power
Motor Freq: 32KHz
Acceleration: Medium
Battery Type: Li-Ion/LiPo
No. of Cells: 3-4 (2000MaH, 3S1P, 11.1V, 15C Continuous
Motor Cutoff: soft or slowdown cutoff
Throttle Curve 0% point Pulse width: Automatic detection at start up
Throttle Curve 100% point Pulse width: Automatic detection at start up
Throttle curve type: Linear
Motor Direction: rotation to the right
Timing Monitor: on

Here is the motor I have:

Any advise or help would be appreciated.

What transmitter are you using?
If you can move the low throttle point up higher and the high down lower you might get a better range of motion.

Personally I hate "auto throttle". There are several types.
It sounds like the N20 uses "full = start up pulse + some fixed amount".
Others use "off = start up pulse" and "full = max stick throw seen so far".

I always use fixed throttle (if available) and set the correct end points using the transmitter.
Set up right the motor just starts to squeal when the stick is nudged forward and hits full just before you hit the forward stop.
I will also play with the sub trim to get more linear response in a desired range ( i.e. get hover near as possible to mid stick)

Hi Pat, the Transmitter is Futaba 2.4 Ghz 6 channel.
It shows the manual adjustment of the throttle start up curve for low throttle to be:
A01 = 1.0ms
A02 = 1.1ms
A03 = 1.2ms
A04 = 1.3ms
A05 = 1.4ms
A06 = 1.5ms
and for high throttle curve
B01 = 1.7ms
B02 = 1.8ms
B03 = 1.9ms
B04 = 2.0ms
is this what you mean by fixed throttle?
