I sent back the ICE 75 that acted up in my Curtiss R3C-2 as well as a very old Phoenix 60 that burned out that's been kicking around my workshop for years. They sent me back a new ICE 75 under warranty for no charge, and replaced the Phoenix 60 with an ICE 100 for $70.

I'm a big fan of cheap ESCs from Hobby King, but it's also great when a high quality manufacturer provides high quality service.

Got the package today, now I need some planes to put them in!

I have several Castle esc's.  The confidence that i can push them along with the company backing up there products makes the price much less of a factor.
Yea 400W/lb should about do it.. But wouldn't a nice round 500 be better?

Plus they're actually quite reasonably priced now. I bought the ICE 75 at hobby hobby in Mississauga for $100.

In my experience quality and service are the reason I buy stuff from the big name manufacturers. Returning stuff to HK is a pain in the you know what. Whereas every time I've had an issue with eflite or great planes I've had no trouble getting a replacement.

That doesn't mean that I don't use Hobby King stuff (I have lots of it) it just means that I balance my expectations of the product before I decide what application I'm going to use it for. The cheaper the plane (i.e. Formosa) the more HK stuff I put in it.
Takeoffs are optional. Landings are mandatory.

Hmmm ... I have one that I've been procrastinating on in terms of sending it back. When did you send yours and how long was the turnaround time?

They responded as soon as they received it but then there was a shipping mixup and it took a couple of weeks to come back.
