This year Battle of Britain Day is on a Saturday. (next year, it's a Sunday)  Anybody who's not going to the Float Fly interested in bringing their Spitfire, Hurricane or Me 109 to Rogo to recognize the day?  I have to work in the morning, so the full day at the Float Fly is out for me. Weather permitting, I'm planning to head to Rogo late afternoon or evening to fly my Hurricane and hopefully my Spitfire...(maybe even with a canopy...waiting seven months and counting!) Retiring to the local pub afterwards would seem like an appropriate way to end the day. Come out, do a few laps and Victory Rolls, hoist a pint in respect and celebration!

I'll try - I have at least 1 Spitfire in flying condition!

Maybe a 109 too, by the weekend.

Cheers,

I am coming!  The 15th is doable for me!   To bad all our HK lancs sucked!  Maybe this is some motivation to finish the hurricane... ;o)

Guys,
Looking forward to sharing the experience with you! Weather looks a bit spotty at this time, but forecasts change and forecasters have been known to make the odd mistake. HK parcel waiting for me at the post office and I think it has my Spitfire prop!

Simon, Greg and Greg and any/everbody else,
Hope you can make it tomorrow to fly your Spitfire, Hurricane or Me 109 at ROGO on Battle of Britain Day. Best wishes to the  Float Flyers too!
Sept 15, 1940 was the last really big Luftwaffe raid on Britain after which the Luftwaffe pretty much gave up trying to establish air superiority over Britain...thus the Sept 15 date.
I've arranged to leave work early and should be able to make ROGO sometime after 3:00 p.m. I'll bring my Hurricane and have my HK Spitfire ready for its maiden, complete with Frankensteined foam canopy. I've ordered a replacement canopy from Ripmax in Britain at the suggestion of some Aussie on RC Groups...sometimes the interweb is truly astonishing!
Weather forecast is more encouraging than earlier in the week. Have a great day whatever you're doing tomorrow!

Half a dozen RC Spitfires and a couple of RC Hurricanes scared off the RC Luftwaffe yesterday at ROGO as a small group of TEMAC pilots recognized Battle of Britain Day. Weather, TEMAC spirit and a no-epoxy event co-operated to make an enjoyable day. Thanks to all who supported! I'll post a link to photos once they're organized.

Any day at the field is a good day :)

It was a fantastic afternoon.  Thanks Bill for being the motivation behind it.

Great photos, wonderful models and lovely weather. With good friends.  Perfection.

And a pleasure to meet your Dad,  Bill.

Imran...glad you like the photo...my dad took it. When you're ready to fly your E-flite Hurricane, let me know. I'd love to watch and/or help. Simon, thanks for the kind words. Between a successful maiden for my HK Spitfire and then having a chance to fly "formation" with two or three other TEMAC piloted Spitfires, and a bit of Hurricane formation flying with Simon, I had a great day.
Today (the day after) we maidened my Dad's Me109 which wasn't ready for BofB Day. It flew really well...much better than his glider which lost its rudder in mid flight (no ailerons) and crashed into one of the ROGO tables scattering startled club members...happily startled was as serious as it got.
Maybe next year, TEMAC's Warbirds Day could be on Battle of Britain Day...SATURDAY, September 15, 2013???...

Thanks Jack. That's al anyone can ask for. It's reassuring to know the club executive listens to the members.

Just in case anyone's still looking...here are the photos. https://picasaweb.google.com/ibillyq/BattleOfBritainDayAtTEMAC
P.S. Finally got a canopy for my HK Spit...recommendation from an Aussie to try Ripmax parts (British) so I (Canadian) could fix a Chinese model of a British aircraft...sometimes the interweb is truly amazing!
