It's a bit foggy now.. not sure if the rain is going to hold out?  :-[

Michael

Well, believe it or not, despite the rainy and windy forecast, the grass was cut, the sun came out, the temperature warmed up, and the wind was light and steady.

Brian Gillian, our grass cutter, grabbed my transmitter from me, and flew and landed his first flight ever with a jet.

Instruction started at 6:30, and Jack and I helped Rob, Oscar, Denver, Daniel, Andy, David, Pedro and Julien get their planes in the air.

All flew nicely. Rob and Andy have really improved.

Daniel flew his new Apprentice really well, but unfortunately, it ended its second flight up in a tree. We will get it down.  ;D

Greg and Greg showed up a little while later and helped out.

Greg C flew his old GWS Messerschmidt twin ducted fan, 3 times, taking of and landing smoothly, thanks to our new runway.

Ken Coleman helped David out with his Formosa, and his persistence and stubbornness paid off and the plane finally got a good flight.
A bigger motor will make a big difference next time.

Ed was there with his daughter, entertaining us flying several models. Ed then spent a half-hour valiantly trying to get the plane out of the tree, but without success.
Efforts are ongoing.

Anyway, a pleasant evening.

I'm sorry I didn't come up! The forecast was this time much worse than the actual situation.

Sounds like Michael and Jack had a busy night.

Thanks to everyone who helped.

Michael

Greg C, Greg H, Ken C and Ed were very helpful too!

nyiHey thanks to Brian, Mike, Greg, and Greg H for a great night. Jack, tried to follow your advice,  lot to think about close to the ground, but I will try.  Soloed tonight!!!!! Thanks guys. This is a really great club you have built, glad to be part of it. Anyone interested in the SAFE rx out of my Apprentice? I swapped it out for a non SAFE unit a couple of weeks ago.
What could possibly go wrong?

Oscar

Hi Greg - Here is the GWS Messerschmitt Twin Ducted Fan video

Oscar

Thank you Michael and Greg for helping me out on my SE5a and providing advice.  Lesson learned.  I will take off all the camera and fly again.

Ken - Thank you for helping me to trim down the plane.  It really help in yesterday wind.

This is a very wonderful club.  And I am grateful I am part of it.

Here is the SE5a clip.  (I must say, camera from the biplane pilot seat looks pretty good).

Thanks Oscar for the video, looks great!  Need to work on landing a bit closer to the end, but she floats pretty good.   The runway is perfect, for all of you that remember, I had this plane for over 4 years (Thanks John P).  The issue was that it was made of EPS foam and breaks up instantly if there is any impact to the fuse.  I had a good flight a few years ago and the planes exploded on a perfect landing.   At one of the fun flies it didn't even take off from the grass!  Now with the runway, this was the perfect time to try it again! It flew great and landings were so much fun!  I don't think I flew that much in one night before!

Uggh, sorry about missing last night guys. Started my day in meetings/ venue tours at 9:00am. Finished the day at 11pm standing in the pouring rain on the pitch at BMO field doing a TV lighting survey.

This work thing really gets in the way of my hobby..

Thanks to Michael and the guys at the field for picking up the slack for me.
Takeoffs are optional. Landings are mandatory.

another wednesday, and here comes the million dollar question again...

Who's going this evening?

Andre Albuquerque

Be careful... it's always too close, no matter how far...

I am fighting a sore throat and a nasty cough... We will see...  :'(

Bit of a tricky call on the weather.
Buttonville is calling for light showers from 2~6pm, then scattered clouds with winds out of the north at around 10kph.
It could be quite pleasant!

Greg-  please take care of yourself!

Still planning on having training tonight. As Graham mentioned we might get off to a bit of a late start as there are showers in the forecast for the afternoon, early evening.

I'm planning on being at the field by 6:30 ~6:45

Students, check your models and batteries and let's go out and have some fun tonight.
