Crash of the Year...2015

We still haven't picked a TEMAC 2015 Crash of the Year winner and as holder of the 2014 title, I feel some responsibility for keeping the tradition going...nominations?

Furthermore, Frank's suggestion of leaving the plane aside to make it easier to fix has not yet worked. It is still in the garage and has yet to start fixing itself!!!

On a purely visceral and emotional basis, I would have to agree. And then there's Glenn's evocative landing-gear-vertical-ejection, blow-off-the-nose Lysander episode.

In both cases I simply could not bring myself to photograph the post-crash carnage. It was hard enough seeing the planes go down. They were both heart-breaking because they involved magnificent, lovingly built aircraft, and I was patently aware of their creators' pain. And especially Andre's Spitfire, since it was the first maiden flight.

Oh, there are so many! My first crash of the season was my second flight with my morphine!

The most spectacular was the inverted fast pass with my Rifle 1M when I pulled up!

And then there was the wing flying off on my Hunter, when my Dad was here.

Although not spectacular in terms of carnage, I nominate Simon's first attempt at FPV with his quad as my favorite. Was a good laugh.

Most spectacular... hmm so many to choose.

I second that fpv flight... There wasn't much damage but watching that little 250 quad make a bee line to it final resting spot was classic

Going to give it a few more days before we come up with a selection process, although based on photo evidence presented, Stephan's case looks strong...BTW Stephan, is the motor still running in the photo?
My only 2015 crash which might be worthy of consideration occurred at another club's field and I'm disqualifying myself on that basis.

Hi Bill, I haven't tried the motor yet but I think it should work. Unfortunately this plane was my brother's plane which makes me feel a lot worse than if it had been mine that had some ESC issues. The front was a fairly clean brake, it shouldn't be very hard fix.
I have a tendency to crash all of Eric's planes!!

Andy, you don't need to feel bad, it was a great set of pictures! You deserve the credit!

Do we have TEMAC archives which would record whether Crash of the Year Awards have been presented in past years and who won?...or better yet, does anyone remember?
Stephan, I was facetiously asking if the motor was still running in the photo...

The inaugural Crash of the Year award (created by the Crashmeister himself, Fearless Frankie) was in 2013, presented to Rob Pike for his Sandringham crash (http://temac.ca/smf/index.php/topic,4414.msg25830.html#msg25830). This was followed by Bill Quantock in 2014 http://temac.ca/smf/index.php/topic,5055.msg32222.html#msg32222. We shamelessly self-flagellate such events in the Tickler.

Re motor running after Stephan's crash, you bet!. Look at the sequence. That motor was running all right... away from the headless fuselage!!
