An interesting project with some lessons of the SOLAR Plane V4 Flying Wing.

So funny... I just watched that earlier today.  I've been thinking about this for months... specifically that solar panels along with a battery on an Apprentice could extend flight time to 30 minutes... an hour.  Not that I could, or would want to fly anything for that long... but never running out of power is very cool.

I believe that solar panels we be so good 10 or 20 years from now that batteries in RC will be charged only from solar.

I was so sorry that he made that mistake in his adjustments and brought his plane down... he wasn't too happy either since it pooched his panels.

His setup of providing power to the motor or battery, depending upon need, is really good.

I googled Apprentice S 15e converted to solar and found nothing.  I think this would be a good project for the near future.

Exciting stuff.

Hi David,

It may be doable. I checked out and these panels can be found at 6 CAD per piece.

It could happen even earlier, maybe 5 years from now. Imagine a paint you could use for that.  8)

If you want to fly inverted you have to put panels on both sides of the wing.   ::)

This is how I fly inverted...

Loop to inverted... oops... not inverted... roll to inverted... oops... too far... not inverted.  Solar panels wouldn't have a thing to worry about with me.
