This is my Banggood  Fokker build so far. Ready for covering. I have a couple of micro servos on order so won't complete it till they come in. This was like a complicated jigsaw project. The kit was somewhat different from the plans with missing and (extra?) pieces including no carbon rods needed. Luckily I have a lot of odds and ends hanging around and found some other similar builds on line. I do kind of like the look of it at this stage and wouldn't mind leaving it as a static model and hanging it from the living room ceiling. I mentioned this to Sandra. I couldn't really tell if her look was from excitement or something else. Certainly she was speechless. I'm not sure it's the best flyer. I watched a couple of maiden flight videos. Not easy in take off mode.

That's gorgeous, Jim.  I love the look of the ribs.  I couldn't resist covering it, but what about something you could see through and still see the detail?

Let me interpret Sandra's look for you.  "I like the idea of hanging something from the living room ceiling... but it won't be that plane!".

Way go Jim! The naked aircraft frame always looks so beautiful.  Often I think it is a shame to cover them, but they have trouble flying otherwise.

@Canuke Jim you have obviously stepped away from the junk. Is your junk finished? How is it coming along?  Share with us and show Frank that others in the club can build a boat too.

What could possibly go wrong?

Some of my other boats. The W(V?)asa was a Swedish warship. Quite an amazing model. I have seen 2 completed examples on line for sale. One is asking $60,000 and the other is $63,000. Mind blowing prices. I don't know how you could ever ship it though. I built a ship for Dr. John and Craig. They had not got around to building their models. John Aurich bought the USS Constitution from me trading in the kit of the Hassard (below). It also was a beautiful model. I have many other hand made crafts. Carved boxes, cheese trays and other items. If there is any interest I'll post some.

Jim,

Amazing work.  It is tedious work but rewarding.

Beautiful work Jim.  The finished junk looks way better than its name.  Keep smiling and keep well.

Great Jim. Now there will be some more Fokkers at the field.

Canuke

Basically have finished the Fokker. I'm not sure what to do about the clear cowl. Paint or does the covering work also on this type plastic?
As I was finishing the covering a knock on the door and a new ship model arrived. It is from Bluejacket Ship Crafters called the "Jefferson Davis 1853". If interested have a look at it. I bought it from ebay and it really looks like an excellent kit. It will be a large project.

Jim,

re: the Jefferson Davis.

Wow.  That's not an afternoon build.  Post a few photos every now and then while you are building it.  There is something therapeutic about planking a hull.
I loved doing the decking on my little powerboat and am planning to build a hydroplane this winter using the same planking effect on the topsides (Miss Supertest III).

The link to your kit is below.

Another model of theirs I would love to build someday is the "Mahogany Runabout". It reminds me of similar ones that we used to see on Lake Muskoka when we had a cottage there. We were on a island and we parked our car at Campbells Landing. They had a similar boat which they used as a water taxi and take people to a old lodge (Glen Echo) which we were next to. The maintenance on the boat was substantial. It wasn't used as a lodge then but a group of people owned it and used the cabins. Memories.

Fantastic Jim!

I have some red spray paint that might match.  You can have it if wish to give it a try.

Canuke

Thanks Bruce. I'll try covering it 1st and see how it looks.

Canuke

I tried covering the cowling. It didn't work well. I showed it to Sandra, she suggested the following solution.

What do you guys think?
