@Frank v B , our inspiring CFI, is busy preparing for the resumption of flight instruction once the COVID-19 restrictions hopefully are lifted.  His leading edge aids for eliciting the right flying behaviours should be a real hit with the students!   8)

I guess it's only fair to show that @Frank v B can actually build beautiful fast planes and fly them superbly!  Notice his expert prop-saving landing.

Amazing what a morning of working with that Hoffer guy does for him!   8)

Andy,

You are good at something.  Nice photos. Notice full "up" elevator in the last photo.  Andy must have caught it at the point of touch-down.

For those of you who have not seen this model fly, it is ballistic.  It is as fast as an EF-1 pylon racer but it has a deep sound as opposed to the more screaming noise of an EF-1 pylon racer.  It is an enlarged version of the Dick Sarpoulos "Tack Hammer".  Dick did a series of "Hammer" airplanes in the '70's.  The Hammer 20, and 40 kits then a gas (23cc) version called the "Sledge Hammer" and then the "Tack Hammer" for an .049.

This plane is on 4 cells, has an EF- racing motor in it (800 watts) and a 70 amp ESC.  It goes as fast vertically as it flies horizontally.  Large turns.  Bruce hand-launched it both flights since it has poor man's retracts (no wheels).

Am bringing it out again today.
