Gentlemen,

For the Microsoft Flight Simulator fans among you, here is comprehensive and lovely look, at the Spitfire simulation for Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX), by A2A simulations.  I can't believe the depth of detail for so little money - once you have the hardware of course :-)

It's a good, detailed look at the actual procedures necessary to run up and fly the Spitfire MkI or MkIIa.  As young men were thrown into the cockpit after so little training in WWII, I'm guessing that all the procedures they learned were limited to taxiing, take-off and landing and any event(s) that might have happened in between?   To lessen the load of things to learn, I'm sure that maintenance, run up etc, in Part I of this 3 part video, was left in the capable hands of the ground crew?

The classic line by Michael Caine in the 1969 Battle of Britain movie springs to mind, where they are sitting, engines running, waiting for a T/O order and he says to control, "The engine's overheating and so am I. Either we stand down or blow up!" - clearly referencing the Merlin's dislike of idling with no passage of air through the radiator? 10 minutes was considered the maximum time .

Do you have any contacts who can provide reasonable rates on financing a Spitfire purchase to ease the overwhelming craving that this sort of thing engenders?

Thank s@RogMason !!
