Flew my Chica today and after about 6-8 circuits the motor cut out.  Would not re-start so it could not be a low battery.

Brought the plane in.

The ESC overheated and actually unsoldered the yellow lead to the motor.
I put in a new 40 amp ESC to replace the damaged 25 amp ESC.

I re-soldered the yellow wire and it worked fine again.  Put it back in my collection in the ESC 20-40 amp ESC box.

The green arrow in the photo points to the location of the solder joint on the ESC.

Lesson learned*.

* I have always flown this motor (E-Flite Series 6 -28 mm inrunner 2700KV with a max continuous of 34 amps) on 3 cells with a 5x5 APC prop drawing 18 amps (Nooner pylon racer) but I now remember that it would draw 28 amps with this 6x4 APC prop.  Doh!
