The Toronto Electric Model Aviation Club presents its first ELECTRIC FUNFLY. Sunday Sept. 5, 2004, 9am to 3pm.

1/2 km east of the Kennedy Rd. and Stouffville Rd. intersection.

Free to any EMFSO and MAAC member (MAAC membership is mandatory for flying). An informal and casual funfly for electric models airplanes and helicopters only.

Note: there is a large (tall) crop of corn surrounding our field. It may be challenging to takeoff and land with large models. Parkflyers and other small and medium models should be no problem.

I'd like to make a barbeque and cook hotdogs at the funfly this coming Sunday.

Is anyone able to lend a barbeque; bring and take it home at the end of the day?

If not, I may have to buy one.

TEMAC grass will be cut this Friday.

"Porta-potty" should be in place sometime Friday until end of Monday.

I'm working on food and prizes.

Hopefully 3 really good prizes will be awarded by raffle (for anyone who flies - attendance at 3pm mandatory).

3 certificates will be awarded: Best Scale Plane, Pilot's Choice Award and Contest Director's award.

I'm planning to go up to TEMAC this evening to cut some weeds, fix the fence and pick up rocks from the field. Anyone willing to help will be treated to a snack at Sam's or Tim Horton's. I'll confirm with another post by 4pm today.

Still looking for a barbeque...

I'm picking up prizes, and expect to be at TEMAC by 7pm - latest - to cut weeds, fix fence, maybe fly a little, ...

I've got really good prizes for our first funfly:

Gold Scallop donated a small styrofoam high-wing sport model kit, and a direct drive 380 motor system with prop and adapter.

Pinnicale Hobby gave us a GWS C-47 (DC-3) ARF kit complete with motors.

A&J Hobbies gave us a GWS Slow Stick, with included motor.

These kits will be given as raffle prizes at about 3pm. In order to be eligable to win you must attend the funfly, register for a raffle number, fly at least one model during the day, and be present at the raffle draw.

I still have more work to do at the field, but it's looking good. The "temporary toilet" should be in today.

I still have to prepare some certificates and paperwork to prepare.

Still no barbeque. If nobody can offer to bring and lend us one, I will have to buy one with TEMAC money.

I was at TEMAC for a few minutes this afternoon. A nice cabinet has been installed for the frequency board, and we have been "toiletized". The "porta-potty" will be there through Tuesday morning.

The field will be mowed on Friday.

I haven't been able to complete an airplane yet...so MANY technical decisions!!...so my "better-half" Terri bought me a ParkZone J-3 Cub (RTF) so that I can participate. I'll be needing an instructor.

It was a delay'd 57th birthday present. Span is 38". So, she was listening when I told of massed flights of J-3s at Richmond Hill last year and then TEMAC this year. For those unfamiliar with ParkZone, the elevator & rudder are coupled (in transmitter software) so that when you apply rudder the elevator moves up slightly to counteract the natural tendency of the plane to dive in a turn.

The J-3 comes with a "cigarette-lighter" in-car peak-detection charger ; since our Hyundai car outlets are "live" only while the car is running, my favourite sister-in-law gave me one of those big car-booster packs so now I can charge it at the field in 40 minutes without running the car.

See you Sunday !!!

Sounds good, Rod.  Make sure you ask someone to help out.  We're all willing to offer a hand.  That's what a club is all about.

See you there!

I didn;t see this on the site for TEMAC, but I was wondering if there was a "Juniors" rate for 18 and under! I am thinking more and more into these electrics and am actually selling a couple nitro planes to get some electrics, and thought it would be fun to join TEMAC when I get more into electrics

Under 18 can fly free for the balance of 2004 - with MAAC membership of course.

Next year there will be a small charge for under 18 flyers.

Weather looks good for Saturday and Sunday and Monday.

We had a great flying day on Saturday, from before 9am until past 1pm. It was hot and hazy, but there were at least 12 to 15 flyers flying a range of aircraft. Adam even flew his .90 size (Hacker Electric conversion) Zen pattern plane.

This was a great prelude to tommorow's funfly. Hotdogs and drinks are almost ready!
