Well, I installed my sewing machine and gave it a try... I need an expert to make the sails, not a straight stitch in sight.  :P

Guy,

Looks great.  A gaff rig even. The little blocks look great.
I saw the earlier post how you made them.  Tedious!
It may be too good for Toogood.

Important progress steps completed.
1- Glued to the deck to the hull.
2- Glued the 3 brass inserts for the sheets. I added wood pieces to solidify and hold the brass tubing, see the red circle.
3- Main mast rigging started.

Next foremast rigging.

The first photo isn't a modification, but simply to show that I've started construction.

The other photos show that I've enlarged the battery hatch to make it easier to place and take-out batteries from the fuselage.

I used a couple scrap pieces of plywood to hold the enlarged hatch together.

I already built one of these, and I have been flying it for 4 seasons. I've flown it off the runway, grass, water and snow. It handles wind easily.

See the link for my original construction thread, including a few modifications.

https://temac.ca/smf/index.php?topic=7850.0

In this thread I will not post all construction, nor any of the previously posted modifications, but I will post any new modifications, and the 4 motor setup I plan. The motors will be mounted in scratch-built nacelles on the wings.

These photos are of the model that I am currently flying.

In my quest to max out my TEMAC membership, I decided to get some fresh air today - LOTS of it!!

At 2:07 pm:

Temp is -4C, wind chill -16C,

Winds are intent on smiting aircraft who do not obey the rules of cross-control and a gentle touch.

Winds are serious WNW at 26 kmh, gusting 40, with playful elements of surprise, encouraging significant time on one's toes!!

Brings back wonderful memories of Winnipeg winters, but not quite as cold!!  Definitely a great cross-wind take-off and landing day.  AND there is one cm of beautiful fresh powder snow.

Cheers!!

Love the o-ring shock absorbers.  Very elegant!!

Have you tried bounce testing it by holding the tail down and dropping the nose?!!

Looking forward to a portrait session.

Happy New Year to all members.

Four of us met at Tim Horton's Woodbine for breakfast at 10.  Rob D., Andy, Paul Scuse and I had a good laugh before going to freeze our collective rear ends off at Rogo Field.

The four of us went over to greet Michael and David.  Glenn also showed up with his golden Lab Buckie.

Michael and David had at least 3 flights, I brought my 2.4 meter span Cularis foam glider.  It flew fine except had trouble flying straight.  It turned out one flap was deployed, the other one was stowed.

Paul Scuse got answers to his experienced Apprentice that had trouble taking off. The battery ended up being defective.

Photo report:
31- Glenn showed up with Buckie.
34- Rob D. after a successful flight with his Stick.  Note the windsock in the background.
36- Paul Scuse before the Apprentice flight.
37- Michael.  Any day at Rogo Field is a good day.
39- Andy.  say no more.  Exploiting his talents as dresser-to-the-tent people after his stint at the CNIB. ;D
40- Glenn prepping his CF105.
