I went for a snow flying today.  Despite the cold, it's quite fun to fly.  It reminds me of the float flying.

It looks so calm and peaceful.
Congratulations, these will make Andy totally jealous ;D

Very nice videos, Oscar.

For some reason, I kept expecting to see reindeer and Santa fly past!  ;D

Very cool.

Thanks guys.  I do have a question.

For the Sport Cub S floats, I am putting wheels on so I can take off from the ground.  Based on my limited knowledge in fix/repair, this is what I came up with.  Do you think it's durable?

The Sport Cub S will not fly off from the water.  It will only be use for ground takeoff / landing.

Papa

You probably could have gotten away without the wheels. The floats will slide on grass and snow.

People can "award" you karma, if they agree or disagree with your post.  It's open to all users.  People can give you "+" karma if they agree with you, or like what you have said, and also offer "-" karma if they disagree strongly, or don't like what you've said.

That's my understanding, anyway.

Yes, it's supposed to be something along the lines with "think you're great" for + karma, and "stop being horrible" for - karma. It doesn't appear to be often used on this board, but it's there for what it's worth.

I remember the good old days of flying in the snow with just t-shirts on.  Not really sure that is going to happen this year!  Or trying to fly a 60 size plane off the snow only to nose over hard on landing.   I like that cub Oscar, it looks to be a good size for the snow.  Even the Parkzone sport cub with the Hobbyzone floats would be fine.  Too bad I would not be able to feel my fingers..

Papa

Shheeesshh! Gets married and is expecting and suddenly he's talking about the good old days. Your not over the hill yet!

LOL

I took the Icon out for a snow flight this morning.  It's sunny but I didn't feel warm at all.  With wind-chill, it feels like -16c.   :P

Oscar,

Nice bit of flying even if it is in the snow. :D   Spring is exactly 4 months away.

Frank

Hey Andy,

Jack and I prepared a runway for you... in Buffalo.  Your head should just be able to stick up above the snow.  Better trade your hip waders in for a dry suit.

There is supposed to be rain tomorrow so bring your floats.

Great videos Oscar!  Maybe more of the beach potatoes will be inspired to come out and savour the joys of ice flying!

I got so excited by your videos that I jumped into my snow pants first thing this morning!  Too bad about the rain coming today, but maybe if it freezes later it will set up a n-ice crust on the snow.

Cheers!

P.S.  Huge thanks to Jack and Frank for their thoughtfulness.  Got my snowshoes and water wings ready!  A

Oscar

The runway is clear this morning.

I maiden the UMX B-17G flying Fortress.  It flies better than my UM Mosquito.
