Just like to share what I found in the internet.   :D

Shall I just fly Spitfires this year?

Durafly. Horizon. FlightLine.  Who next?

I have 4 Spitfires already. Lord knows I can't buy  one whenever a new one comes out, but Lord I am tempted by this. Says you can get it going over 90 mph.

What could possibly go wrong?

There is already a thread on this.....

I will try to merge them both.

The demo review is out.  Too bad I bought the HK Mk1a already.

Hi Guys, with quads having a 3 blade propeller is more efficient and can be more powerful than a 2 blade.
Why is it with planes that the 2 blade is faster? Is it just pitch??

pmackenzie

In general two blade props are more efficient than multi blade props. It has to do with the wake from the blades interacting with each other.
Fewer blades, less interaction. It gets a bit more complicated if the multi blade props have higher aspect ratio, but about the best it will be is dead even.

The main reason for multi blade props is to be able to absorb more power for a given diameter. This is generally not a problem for models.

In a multi rotor during hover efficiency of any prop is by definition zero  :)
No "useful work" is being done in hover, so there is no way to measure efficiency.
Some props can be more effective than others in that they a give longer flight, or more thrust for the same input.
But those are examples of figures of merit, not efficiency.

re: "Fewer blades, less interaction"

Interesting Pat.

It reminds me of the photos of CL speed planes in the '70's that have a single blade and a counterweight on the spinner opposite the blade.  They take the fewer blade idea to an extreme.  That must be some balancing trick.
