Hey Fella's,

Wondering if anyone got some opinion on the Motor for EF1 racing. Which is more reliable?  I wanted to OS but I think they are discontinued.  Eflight Power 25 BL or Rimfire EF1 Race 35-45-1250kV

I don't own a rim fire ef1 motor (I think Glenn is the only one to own one)... But I did burn out a Eflite one last year. I still need to send it back to see if horizon will fix it.

Not sure which plane you have but the Eflite one has a longer can (website says 45mm) so it might be harder to fit in a plane with a stubby nose.

   Hi,
I have both, a Rimfire and an Eflite race motor powering two different aircraft. Both have been dependable and well constructed. I also believe they are too close to call as to which one is the better unit.  As Greg mentioned, his motor did crap out in Orangeville, but that was likely a fluke which could happen in any motor being pushed hard during racing.

Hi Guys
I have been using the Eflite 25 1250 kv's since 2011 and have had good results, had to send one back to Horizon because of a crash, Horizon just sent me a new one. Rick Paine had one blow up on the bench, sent it back and was replaced, at no charge.
The Eflite is well made and smooth but heavy.

Also I am using the Arrowind  25 1300kv's, it is lighter at 5.9oz. and a shorter can 41.5mm, larger round can 39mm.
Not as smooth as the Eflite and you have to buy a universal motor mount because the holes don't line up with the mounting bolt pattern on any of the ARF's.
When mounting the Arrowind, longer standoffs have to be used.
It is available from Brodak in PA. item # BH-1834 $60.00 US plus 9.99 for the mount.

The OS motor has been discontinued but can still be used.

DON'T buy a Hobby King E F 1 motor they are JUNK. I tried one and the magnets came loose on the first run.

Hope this info helps.

I have been runnin  3 of the 4 options. Eflite, O.S. and an arrowind.... For the arrowind I just I modified the back plate to fit the Scarlett screamer. Worked well.
If I had to pick a favorite it's the eflite. I folded a wing on my first EF1 and stuck it in the dirt. I cleaned it out as best as I could. It dosnt feel the same, but still goes like stink!! It's fast. All 4 motors have been approved by the NMPRA, which says not one is any better then the next as far as speed goes....
I've heard good things about the rimfire. Should Tach around 12500rpm(?) on a 8x8 prop...
if memory serves me.
