Drainage at TEMAC?

Is there anyone out there with experience in draining soft soggy ground so it ceases to be a problem every year.

The area where the drive way meets the pit area seems to be at or below the water table and we always have 2" of water pooling each spring.

Would a foundation style weeping tile work to remove the water quickly to the ditch?

Any suggestions? What have other clubs done in similar circumstance?

Since I kind of went to school for this I can offer some thoughts.

1. This problem won't be easy to fix. Given the topography of the field and the proximity of the driveway to the creek you're not going to totally win this battle. A weeping tile might help but since the area in question is the lowest point of the field it would be hard to get the water to move out of the drain and away from the road.

2. Building up the road with a little more gravel "might" help.

This might be why the farmer gave up the land. I'm going to guess that he has a hard time planting on it.

Good point Byrocat, hopefully we have a full list of what we can and can't do. Once all the red tape is out of the way, things can move ahead.

Either way, one thing a working farm needs is access to bring cars and heavy machinery in and out.
