I was thinking that we could enhance the training program by adding some aerobatics instruction in the future for people who have earned their wings and want to do more.

Anyone interested in this?

Here's a link to some simple moves that we could practice and master together...

I'd love some help to improve my aerobatics!

I would be interested.    8)

I too would be interested in a basic aerobatics program.
I consider it an enjoyable and challenging part of the hobby.
Yea 400W/lb should about do it.. But wouldn't a nice round 500 be better?

Unless I can find an instructor who's an aerobatic champion. This will be a group learning project. I'll find the material and we will practice and learn together.

Let me work on this....

I'm definitely interested. I bought my Revolver 70 this year in the pursuit of becoming a more precise pilot.

I looked up aerobatic flight training and there is a place in the states (http://www.rcflightschool.com/) that offers actual clinics. Perhaps if we have enough people sign up they would come to TEMAC to run their multi-day program.

Btw, there's a good list of manoeuvres on the TEMAC website http://temac.ca/?page_id=310 so at least we know what each manoeuvre is supposed to look like.

I used one of this guy's books when I was learning to fly. It's very good and it covers some of the more common maneuvers (Loops, Immlemans, Split S, Cuban's etc.) We know most of them already, but to execute them precisely and consistently is hard. Even a simple loop requires precise flying to execute properly.

I'd love to go to one of their schools, and perhaps one day I will.

My thoughts about this aerobatic training at TEMAC is.

1. Identify the core skills and publish tips on the site for pilots to read and take with them to the field.
2. Organize some practice dates where we fly together and discuss the skills.
3. Create a basic aerobatic sequence that all of us can learn and practice on our own.
4. Hold a mini fun fly and have a friendly competition. Or we can add it to the skills challenge day.

We will keep the rules light and focus on fun and improving our piloting skills. Anyone with wings and a plane capable of aerobatics may join.

Any thoughts?

Consider that basic aerobatics are just offensive and defensive fighter pilot maneuvers any way....

Mike, I love the idea. Any suggestions on readings to start with?

Let me see what I can find on the web.

As far as a sequence goes how about we work on practicing the Basic IMAC sequence and them plan on a small contest at the end of September?

I'll break down the individual skills and post each one separately for us to learn. This will include how they are scored and where deductions are made.

The basic IMAC routine would be a terrific place to start I think Mike!  We can all work on it together and help each other improve.
This is something I've wanted to do for years!
TEMAC rocks!

I to would be interested...My plan was to get an arobatic plane over the winter and practice on the sim till spring...
Training would be fantastic...Should really add to the Sim work and put some structure to the learning.

Great Idea.

Thanks Steve

I am very interest in pursuing this as well.

Ben, how many people are needed for the clinic?
Do you any idea of cost?
