Weather looks ok in the am but becoming poor in the afternoon.  Little morning flying anyone?  I've been stuck inside too much and NEED to fly!  Who's in?
Yea 400W/lb should about do it.. But wouldn't a nice round 500 be better?

Takeoffs are optional. Landings are mandatory.

Got out and flew 6 flights. Windy, cold and awesome. New power setup on the Enigma is great had a lot of fun flying it. Worth the wait!  Lots of others at the field getting some flying in before the weather deteriorates.  Good times!

I maidened my 700+ watt Tornado EDF, at about 1.30pm. Thanks to Jeff and Greg for the hand launches.

Bobby used a Doppler app (I think) to record 88mph on a pass with the wings swept!

Should be fun when I get used to it!

Cool Simon!  88mph is not slow.  so the wings can sweep in the air?  any flight changes as the wings sweep?  Does it use any mixes to make it fly the same through out the wing change?

I didn't notice any pitching as the wings swept (yes, they are 3 position on the flap switch) but the aileron authority was not good with the wings swept.  Good job my high rates were too sensitive with the wings forward!

So, wings back, high rates aileron. Wings forward, low rates aileron.

Otherwise, it was pretty stable and landed nice and easy.

I was using a Cyclone Power Turbojet fan from RC-Castle (with the 4 blade fan fitted, rather than the 6) and a CS450 4500kV motor with 60A esc. The combo was $99.  These are the figures, apparently (I think I got near enough 800 watts):

Turbojet 64 (4 Blade) + CS450-4500-30EDF Motor + 14.8V   Static Thrust: 1160g  53A

Glad I got out and flew yesterday!  Hope everyone else had as good a time despite some carnage.

I'm trying to figure out exactly what it is about the 12 to 25 knot (22-45 kmh) winds which had been forecast for this afternoon that kept everyone away this afternoon.   :)  The big winds never really materialized, and I had an itch, so....

We had 190 (almost due south) @ 11G19KT (20 gusting 34 kmh) @ 5:00 pm and 190 @ 11KT (20 kmh) @ 6:00 pm according to Nav Canada weather for Buttonville, but at head height winds tapered right off and below landings were no problem.

LOTS of geese (from next door) were preparing for their trip south and visiting our airspace, along with the resident peregrine falcon who hangs out on the microwave tower.  But I couldn't find Ed anywhere!!

Needed to spend some time at home. Winds don't frighten me off at all but I scheduled to be there yesterday.  I came I saw I flew!
Good to hear you got out today Andy!

Ed Come up to Orangeville, the winds here might frightened you off. This is turbine country, we are surrounded by them
