I thought the Star Wars style FPV 250 Quad racing looked pretty cool in Zoltans video. I know there was some chatter about them, so I thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone is going to build/buy one.

So, anyone got plans to get going on an FPV 250 Quad?

Which one? What components? What's influencing your choice?

Looking at them on YouTube and they're cutting leaves and running into trees.

I don't know they have no appeal for me.

Good luck with it.

There are two well brand outthere.

http://xhover.com/

Their frames are durable.  The only thing that possible to break are the props.  Both have their suggestion in motors, controlboard, setup.

For others who not familiar with building the race quad, you can try the RTF version from Helipal.

battlestu

well it's official i joined the dark side (see what i did there ;) )

I'll post a build thread once i get all the parts but for now I've ordered:

Frame:

ESC:

Motor:

Controller:

Planning on getting the quad flying first before i worry about a FPV system (but welcome any recommendations.)

Also i welcome any comments, questions, or concerns with my choice of components.

Way to go, Greg!  I just can't quite pull the trigger yet - I'm not 100% convinced it's what I'd like.  As I've said before, I can't really fly a quad (at the moment!)

But if I did, I would go for similar frame, the same ESCs, but the Multistar Elite motors.  They have a 3mm shaft, I didn't like the 2mm shaft on the regular Multistar ones.  But what do I know!?

I'm excited for you!

Oscar

Cool Greg! Do you think it will look more cool with led lights added at the front and the back, like green/front, red/back?

battlestu

for sure red leds will be on it (if i'm keeping with the dark side/star wars theme)

Oh heck Greg! Robert guilted me in to ordering tonight!!! He said I "can't start a thread saying 'hey this is cool' and then say 'yeah, I'm not sure about getting one!'"

So I decided to take the plunge!

Similar spec to yours (same ESCs and similar flight controller, K2.1.5) but different frame (low hung clean-and-dirty!!!) and motors (multistar elite 2300kV.) Also no FPV gear for this quad yet.

Like you, I will start a build thread. Now I'm excited !

battlestu

so it begins.....

sihinch

Go Greg!

Still waiting for mine.

battlestu

Attached the motors to the frame. Wired the ESC, BEC, and lights to the power distribution board. Also started to clean up some of the wiring (still more work to do ;)

With some luck i can have it ready to fly this weekend... now if the weather was a little better
