I have a DX9 radio...............can someone explain to me what f-mode is ans how to use it ?

f-mode is short for flight mode.

Flight modes are a convenient way of grouping changes in how you want the model to be configured for different operating modes.
Depending on the radio you can have different rates, expo, mixes and trim settings for each flight mode.
They also introduce the concept of priority, where certain flight modes will overide others.

Most common example is in helis, where you usually have at least three flight modes that have different throttle and pitch curves.
For helis throttle hold, which cuts the motor, has the highest priority  so when the controlling switch is flipped that mode is always turned on.

Also very common in gliders. I use 6 flight modes in my DLGs: launch,zoom,land.speed,cruise,and thermal in that order of priority.
Each mode has different wing camber and elevator trim settings, and some have their own rudder and aileron trims, aileron to rudder mix ratios, and aileron differential settings.

Not used as often for "conventional" models, they don't have the same sort of requirements. Usually you just have rates which can be handled by a switch.
But if for example you wanted control rates to be changed everytime you put down landing gear and/or flaps flight modes would be a way to do it.
