I flew Wardair to Amsterdam many times.  A great charter airline before he sold out to Air Canada.

Yes, good old Wardair.  A great airline.  AirCanada hated the competition and tried at every juncture to make life difficult.  Typical, spoiled brat Government agency tactics. 
Finally Max gave in and sold to Canadian (nee CP Air), who then were purchased by Air Canada. That's how to kill and consume the competition guys - (and pioneering Canadian companies into the bargain).

Same thing happened to Freddie Laker and his innovative 'SkyTrain' - affordable transAtlantic travel.  BA killed that business. Another spoiled brat national airline.  Sickening.

Actually, there's a great folklore story surrounding Freddie Laker.  He was in his office at Gatwick and noticed that his Majorca bound Laker Airways flight was late backing out of the gate.  He went down to investigate and was told that an elderly lady passenger was upset and very nervous, as this was her very first flight. The crew were having difficulty calming her.  Freddie asked the passenger sitting next to her if they minded moving seats and he sat next to the little old lady, introduced himself as the owner of the airline and sat beside her all the way to Palma airport, chatting and sharing the experience, thereby reassuring her.  He flew back to Gatwick on the next flight out of Majorca and continued his day at the office.  Nice story eh? 

I can't see the Air Canada or BA CEO's doing that?
