It was just announced that Rudie Nagelmakers is our new MAAC Zone L Zone Director.  He is taking over from Temac member Adam Maas.
Rudie is president of the Beeton Flyers (Alliston, Ont).  He has attended our Temac end of August BBQ event the last two years and joined us for breakfast before the 905 swap meet in April.

Rudie lives in Schomberg, is retired from computer sales.  His daughter Lisa lives in Toronto near me and does call me the odd time for home emergencies.

Fun day today - great to see everyone.
1st time in a while seeing 5 planes in the air at the same time.

Flew my Chica today and after about 6-8 circuits the motor cut out.  Would not re-start so it could not be a low battery.

Brought the plane in.

The ESC overheated and actually unsoldered the yellow lead to the motor.
I put in a new 40 amp ESC to replace the damaged 25 amp ESC.

I re-soldered the yellow wire and it worked fine again.  Put it back in my collection in the ESC 20-40 amp ESC box.

The green arrow in the photo points to the location of the solder joint on the ESC.

Lesson learned*.

* I have always flown this motor (have 4 of them: E-Flite Series 6 -28 mm inrunner 2700KV with a max continuous of 34 amps) on 3 cells with a 4.1x4.1 APC prop drawing 18 amps (Nooner pylon racer) but I now remember that it would draw 25 amps on a 5x5 and 28 amps with this 6x4 APC prop.  Doh!

Hopefully the weather will hold out.  I am planning to be at Rogo to fly just after lunch this Sunday.  If anyone needs help maidening an airplane, re-trimming one or need a check flight, come and join us.

Will try to fly my large 12' power glider again for the second time with Glenn's help.  I need his dolly (a crate with wheels) in order to take off.  Also need Glenn's flying talents to bring it back in one piece.

A nice warm day at Rogo Field....if you didn't mind the smoke from the forest fires in Northern Ontario and Manitoba.

I counted at least 13 people there.

A lot of flying, changing winds.  It changed several times with a usual switch to cross-winds.
