A Great Planes 2 meter electric glider was lost at Temac early on Saturday morning.  It was windy and the sun was in the flyer's eyes and could not bring it back to the field.  It probably crashed into the field that is beyond the trees at the east end of our field.

Couldn't find it.

If anyone finds it, please let us know.

Our hearts go out to the the loadt soul. Saturday was very windy with a due west wind.  The plane must get blown arounf quite a bit.

Is there gona be a group search effort this week?  I am available on Wed evening. Please provide more tracking infomation if you have any.

Well, this has happened to me three times at TEMAC.  Always in west winds above 30 km/hr.  As a result I don't fly gliders in those conditions any more.

When I lost my e-glider in 2004, I spent a long time searching the first farmyard past the east treeline, to no avail.  The plane finally turned up in the yard THREE driveways east of the TEMAC field -- a lot further away than I had thought. The owner's name is Tony Pescadore.

I agree with Gordon. I lost an airplane, an Eagle 2 gasser, a few years back in Sept. Looked for about a month off and on when the weather was good and when I had the time. The following April, eight months later, I got a call from a fellow who found it in one of his fields AT LEAST 1 TO 2 KLM from where I was looking.

Hi guys,
It felt pretty lousy losing the plane so your advice and kinds words help a lot.

Does "due west" mean the wind is blowing east? If so that was the case.  Basically, I would make a turn and the wind pushed the plane back further east of where I was.

I thought it went into the field right next to ours.  Its a long walk as I found out. ( When you are out there, you cannot see your car because of the curvature of the earth [:)] )  But there is a barn and then a row of trees at the eastern most point of our field.  In the field, I thought it came down in, there is a big tree right in the center.  That was the area that I tried searching. I looked into the adjacent property but did not see the plane.

I saw rkhoo's post about a search party on wednesday.  I don't think I can make it up there tomorrow and the field would be quite muddy anyhow will all of the rain.  I can probably come to temac next wednesday evening and try searching again.

Thanks again.

I may go up Thursday evening if the weather and wind are reasonable.

I'll have a look around too.

I NEEDED SOME EXERCISE SO I WENT THROUGH TO THE HOUSES AND SAW NOTHING. i SUGGEST IT MAY HAVE GONE FURTHER. I WOULD SUGGEST TALKING TO PEOPLE AT THE HOMES, THE STABLES OR EVEN THE GARDEN CENTRE TO SEE IF ANY OF THEM MAY HAVE PICKED IT UP.

Thanks for asking and also thanks to Jack for taking a look around the field.

I did find the plane last wednesday but did not have time to post an update.  The folks at the garden center let me check around their property and I was able to find it.

It was not much of a find though.  The wood felt soft and the wing joint was swollen and would not separate as it was a two piece wing. None the less, it felt good to get it back.
